So what do y'all think? I haven't taken it anywhere to get patched and the tires came with the truck. BFG 275/70/17 for reference.

Depends on the tire shop, some might and some might not patch it. Its a liability issue.

I’d say go for heat patching. Not a fan of plugs unless it’s in a pinch

Depending on where the nail came threw to the inside ( you wont know until the tire is removed from the wheel to see ) this can be patched successfully by someone with that skill level, Discount tire comes to mind, or someone like them.

If you are really worried break it down and patch it on the inside.

    Reserected from the dead.
I wouldn't even remove it from the truck. Plug it and go. I've never had a plug fail.

If that tire has a warranty, then let them deal with it.

Sorry for spelling. Fone is tarded.

Ok thanks guys. I'm going to see if anyone will patch it for me and if they won't, I'll plug it and buy another tire later this month and keep this one as a spare.

I would plug it and keep running it. I personally don't like my spares to have holes in them. A flat spare is useless. It's much easier to monitor the tires you're driving on than the spare. I usually only check my spare before long trips.

Appreciate this thread, had a nail in almost the exact place a few weeks ago. Tire shop refused to plug it. Did it myself and is holding air as well as the other three.

The closest tire shop to me didn't want to mess with it either and I didn't feel like driving all over looking for a shop that would do it.

Plug all day. Some rubber cement and that will never have a problem. Stock up on plugs and cement once and you have 20 plugs for less than $10. Less than 10 minutes of work.

When I had a car and lived on gravel it was pretty much a monthly thing to get a nail or something in the tire. About had more plugs than tire and never had an issue with a plug. With E rated tires on my tacoma I haven't had a flat yet.
