I need tonfind a reason to go to Angelfire. A 10+ hour drive is a hard sell though, with not much else around.

Being in SLC I can understand, although a road trip through from there to Fruita and Durango would be cool. Its a lot easier to justify when you live in flat DFW.

Did a trip last year on memorial day, SLC-GJ-Durango-Moab-SLC over a 4.5 day trip. It was amazing!...except the part where I broke 4 ribs and got 9 stitches on the Ribbon Trail in GJ on day 1...Still rode days 3 and 4 including the Iron Horse Classic in Durango. Not sure how good it is for you to ride 18 miles at full gas while on Percocet but it did the trick.

I would love to do that loop again but over 2 weeks and throw in black bear pass, and a bunch of stuff I didn't know about until I really got into the 4wd scene

Just for the record my wife and I have taken both kids to Angel Fire over the last 10 years for down hilling Besides great down hill trails at the resort which is reason enough on there own merit, there are a few cross country trails right in the direct vicinity of the resort. Then you've got the South Boundary trail that runs from Angel Fire to Taos. I've never done that trail but it's on my bucket list!! Hope to do this one soon...

Angel Fire is the reason. The place is ridiculous. It's far, and other than boundary trail, nothing else to ride there. But it's a super rad resort to ride, and it's not crowded like many other places.
Another add-on can be Pajarito. Another super-cool, made by riders, raw and bad-ass riding "resort."

Coming from SLC you can do lots of cool options on the way. The best way is to go to Moab -> G.J. -> Powderhorn -> Gunnision and Crested Butte -> drive the pass over to Aspen -> head south to the Great Sand Dunes -> straight into Taos. Crazy beautiful, amazing camping, the best riding around, and a super memorable adventure.

Excelling sloppy early winter riding yesterday. Get it while it’s still here!

Im new to cycling, and I just. Broke my rear derailleur (Shimano Acera RD-M360) and broke the hanger, just my putting my bike in the lowest gear.. On pavement. I've looked on YouTube and it seems like an easy affordable fix. (I'm kinda excited to do my first tinkering on my bike) I'm looking for advice on possibly a slightly better rear derailleur. My bikes a GT Agressor, about 5 months old from Dick's Sporting Goods. I wish I. Could afford a better bike, but maybe next year.
Should I just replace with the same Shimano Acera? Or should I match the front derailleur which is Shimano Tourney(3x8)? Is Amazon a good place to get it? Sorry for the beginner questions, but y'all seem to know A Lot about mountain bikes in here.

Since you have to replace it anyway you might want to look into setting yourself up for s future 1x10 or 1x11 setup.

I just got my first real MTB so I don’t really have any experience with it but after some reading I’m really interested in the simplicity of a 1x setup.

1x setup is definitely the way to go. I’d go with at least a 1x11 personally.

Just my $.02 but I wouldn't stick money into upgrading the derailleur if you are thinking about a new bike next year. 1x11 or 1x12 is awesome but I would wait and get that on a new bike.

Ok guys im getting tired of my trek starting to venture further off the beaten path. Never had any luck with rear suspension. Looking for advice on a good allterrian bike for mix street n trail, and breaking trails. Mainly planing upon doing the candian trail in glacial national forest from kintla lake to babb mt. Should i keep my 2 yr old trek n just get a trail dedicated bike.

I forgot about this thread. I’m a total roadie but these are some picture of the Mojave Death Race that me and some work buddies did this summer. It’s 250 miles of running, road and mountain biking over 24 hoursB35CC4A6-B5F0-4FFD-A387-16EB180BAADF.jpg 9D08EA09-CCE5-4BD3-903F-07511FF0AF68.jpg EB5990FE-3E99-4F2E-8B69-42D674EDEA87.jpg 04E75741-DDCC-45A2-8FEB-6913BA8F7908.jpg 4B47FD5D-F7FB-4C7A-A58C-B0D1C4E4EE8E.jpg . I was the road cyclist for the team and my Taco served as the bike transport.
