I'm a new member as of today and this is my first post. I have purchased a used 05 Tacoma double cab 4x4, trd, sport, automatic with 120K miles on it. I've owned the car for about a month and recently just noticed an issue when braking hard at red lights. The truck wants to jump forward. The only way to prevent this from happening is to depress the brake harder. If I let up on the brake at all, the truck will jump forward a few inches. I have not taken the truck in for service yet but wanted to know what you guys thought. I've heard anything from transmission issues, to U bolts or U joints, to the toyota recall. Any help would be appreciated. Thankss

also can be due to "gear whind" or axle wrap. -if drive shaft is not lubed, it may feel like someone tapped ur truck from behind.

x2. Mine does it all the time with the AC on. I wouldn't worry about. Did you get it from a Toyota dealership?

I bought the car at auction. Is there a way to limit this from happening or dampering the jerk? I don't hear the gears whining and the truck is not lifted. I would assume axle warp would more then likely take place with the truck is lifted. I will however, have the techs check the drive shaft. I have noticed it more lately, and that might be because I have the AC on more. Any other ideas?

I have an 06 trd off road and it does the same thing, I haven't been to worried about it and it seems as if it happens on all of them. Hope this makes you feel better!

I will have the drive shaft greased and let you guys know if this solves the problem. I'm also going to have the trans flushed since it has 120K miles on it. I'm not sure if I want to keep the truck if this continues. I've owned a 87 4runner, 00 Tacoma, 95 4Runner and a 03 4Runner but this 05 Tacoma is horrible when I brake hard.

The way your talking yours must be bad jerking. Mine is right after I stop. Its just like someone gave it a hint of gas all of a sudden but nothing drastic.

Just curious, but if I were to lift the truck using spacers or larger tires, would that take the play out of the drive shaft and help reduce the issue?
