My 2011 Tacoma does not have a tailgate lock. Do I need to buy the whole handle assembly or can I just buy a lock?

Yes its sold and a handle assembly. Check either ebay or Amazon for pop n lock. A hose clamp placed on the passenger side of the tailgate hinge will also slow down a thieves.

Also available with a Bolt Lock cylinder that will work with your ignition key. I've had one since 2014 and haven't had any problems.

Definitely get the one with bolt , super nice not to have another key to keep up with. Have had mine for 2 years and no problems .
