60+ year old thread.

Had a nice fat doe browsing about 50 yards too far right before dark.
All by herself and no skippers seen. Hope to run into her in a few weeks.

 

Evening all:
Just bought a metal ladder stand for $80 + Pa tax, 50% off and was debating! I can build wooden ladder stands that are pretty good, but a lot of work involved and probably would have $40 in materials. Now I need to find "the spot" to put it, also have a wood ladder stand that I just rebuilt, so good to go for awhile.

Afternoon all:
I'm seeing deer on the ground, but am way more comfortable up in a stand. Saw a buck again today, it crossed the oil line probably around 300 yds away from where I was sitting, when you can see headgear at that range it has to be a decent buck. Also saw a bear cross as I was walking out, maybe 100 yds away and wasted no time crossing, I would have been lucky to get a shot off with a rifle!

Mike: There is an area I found where I want to put up a tree stand, it has an opening in the laurels where I can see along a ridge, but can't see into the laurels behind me where there are a bunch of deer trails. By going up, I can see into those laurels and cover a lot more area than if I were on the ground. All I can do is give it a shot, should see something go through there, maybe not!

Dang! Just saw where they are going to offer a 426 Hemi crate motor with 1,000 HP, looks like it will be a little over 20K.

 

Morning all:
The old dummy made a dental appointment during the best part of archery season, I even had a list of the seasons with me so I wouldn't do that!
Oh well, it's pouring right now which makes it a little better!

 

Sounds like trouble. Come with a couple years worth of tickets?

Speaking of old dummies, this old dummy got a new company cellphone and forgot to swap out the SIM cards. Had to drive 1+ hour each way back to the "local office" this morning to rectify.


I hate cellphones.

Good morning! My mind said get up,but it was 4am So here l am on a TW..
Drinking a cup of coffee from out tepid warm coffee maker. About over this one.l want my coffee lawsuit hot!

Funny story on myself.But l think man likes to just tinker with stuff.At least that is what l say to the Mrs.

Got a small free pressure washer from a buddy about 3 years ago that ran,but the pump leaked.So l go to Northern Supply and bought a new washer pump.About $40-45 bucks.Bolt that puppy up and fired up the engine.Oops,what's wrong! The engine is toooo small to push the new pump..So l tune and try some different ways to make it work.NOT gonna happen.No problem,I'll just find a cheap engine and boom everything will be great.
Fast forward 3 years.Last weekend l find a 6.0 Briggs in the paper(yes,l still read day old news) for $40 bucks but it's an hour away.And the pump leaks (perfect).l'm goin for it,what the hell.So l drive and drive on this road that went from 2 lane paved country road that went to gravel ("you hear banjo's playing") and l still had 3 miles to go to reach my destination.
I'm not downing anyone,but this reminds you of the stereotypical Southern Appalachian countryside that some northerners think that's how we all live. But anyway,l meet "Laurry" (not a typo) and l proceed to check this pressure washer out.Of course,it's a bitch to start,but we finally get it running.Hand him $40 and leave with it.Didn't even try to get him to come off his price,cause he looked like he needed it
I get it home,clean it up,drain the gas,put a plug in it and change the oil.Removed and swapped the pumps on both.Set the old one out in front of the house for recycle pickup,but an hour later it was gone.
That added another $8 to my freebie.But it fires up and runs like a top now.
Didn't have time to try it out yesterday cause my son and l were raking leaves all day.But today is the BIG day to see if my "free" ($90) pressure washer will work! I am so proud of myself

 

Good morning Susan, gang. I'm up early too. Couldn't sleep so finally got up, after all the old time is 5.
Won another old stove yesterday, another 100+ year old Primus 96 from 1912. Solder job on the top around the air release screw.

Somehow I managed to spend my extra hour sleeping! Which is strange because I've been waking up early for the past month.

I'm pet sitting for the next door neighbor. Two pit bulls, two cats, a bird, a bunch of fish. I think I may finally be getting comfortable around the dogs.

The new/old pressure washer runs like a top! No leaks and lots of power.Now what can l destroy with it!

 

Do not point as garage doors with tight spray pattern..

2 more days and we can go back to answering the phone and stop muting the TV for all the political ads! Don't know about other areas, but the ads here have been particularly nasty.

 

I got a call at 9:30 the other night with that crap.
My work buddy got a call at his home and started calling them back every15min or so all day.
They asked him to stop calling. He said no ,,,,,,how do you like it?
I think something like 80 calls back to the same number.,
Love it..

 

Nasty has been the tone the last few elections

 

It's the same here; it's quite a race to the bottom.

 

Evening all:
The political attack ads have been nasty for a lot of years, gets to the point of being sickening sometimes! If you listen to both sides, neither candidate should be eligible for office! What amazes me is the amount of money that's involved to back a candidate, must be a reason for that!

 

I got 13, yes 13, calls today from numbers I've never seen before. I never answer unless I recognize the number and most hang up without leaving a message but today I had 5 messages wanting me to vote for their guy because the other guy is a tool of Satan. Or something. Tuesday can't get here soon enough.
