I think he was. I suspect that is why he was so happy to let someone else have it. Also why my friend didn't want it. When my friend brought it to me I was kind of like, "geeeee thanks."

I was still hunting this morning, some dogs hunters dropped dogs off on adjacent land. Not 5 minutes later had a doe moving quick across a field in front of me. She was just spooked. Took a running shot at 40 yards with my scope at x4 and missed  about 45 minutes later hanging out under a shelter with a buddy, another doe popped out at 250 yards. Shot once with my buddy's 270wsm (all I had a was a 35 rem at the time) freehand and missed. She moved 20 feet and presented another shot. Missed the second shot... :facepalm:today was not my day. Also my 6.5 creedmoor is jamming after a shot is fired to the point I have to slam the bolt to make it eject. Going to try new ammo since cleaning didnt make a difference. So I pulled out the 300 win mag and shot it to make sure its sighted in. :curls:

Proof that I'm actually a decent shot. Target was 100 yards away off of sandbags with core lokt 180 grain.

Deer season is over for us so now it’s time to start shooting hogs and we’re getting some good pictures on our cameras.

Let me know what you find out. I'll be over there on the 17th until end of season. Hoping to get something bigger than I've been getting the last few years. Either that or just take a mature doe. A lot of my family up there say around Thanksgiving is great.

Five hours of hiking canyons and not an elk in sight. Lots of sign and a few shots heard, but hoping for better luck tomorrow!

yeah Im going to make it down to check my lower property game cam tomorrow. All I had recently was a bull moose and an ok buck. I'd shot him if I see him but not a bruiser by any means. I spooked some deer this evening about 3 miles as the crow flies from my place. I hit a cow elk call and that seems to get them moving even in the wind! I cruised by this clearcut and didnt see anything, hit the cow elk call and see 2-3 white flags bolting toward the woods...at last shooting light.

Got my three Doe back from the processor. This is the first time I’ve not processed all my deer myself. I’m too busy with working out of state that a was fortunate enough just to get out to my lease to hunt.

Ended up with just over 100 lbs of meat.

Hopefully I get another deer or two in January before the season ends.

Holy crap that must be nice! We get one deer (buck) per year in Oregon unless we are lucky enough to also draw a doe tag...also only good for one.

It is nice. We get five white tail tags (two buck max) and two mule deer tags (one buck max).
If you hunt on MLD property you can get even more deer.

But it comes at a price. There is very little public hunt land here in Texas so we pay out the ass for our leases.

That sucks. I’ve been hearing a lot about the public land debate lately. TX is used as one of examples of why it belongs in federal hands (our hands). I think they said TX is 98% private! That’s a shame. Definitely too high a price in my opinion.

I would love to come down there for pigs and Axis deer though!
