Holy smokes! To me it seems like the 3rd gen came out yesterday.

They left the FJ40 almost unchanged for 24 years, but the 3rd gen Taco has fallen behind after 3?

Hopefully that asteroid is inbound because we really need a reset on people’s expectations.

Don't buy a new 2018 yet, because you can probably find a new or very little used 2017 with no TSS!

My expectation is that someone comparing a Tacoma to a similar vehicle may find the Tacoma's manual seat and limited headroom outdated. My understanding is that the 3rd gen physical space is the biggest obstacle to offering this. It's not like 4runners don't have this.

You should also consider that market trend has been from SUV to pickup. SUVs have had more competition and therefore more features/slimmer margins.

The market will dictate, but I think Toyota is delisional to think the 3rd gen can lead a market that everyone is targeting with a vehicle missing amenities common in small SUVs.

Forget losing unit sales to Ford, the Ranger will absolutely press the margins of the Tacoma.

Entertainment, Fuel Efficiency, and comfort are 3 very important criteria for unit sales growth.
