08 Fuel Tank Armor Plate

Good job man even if some of the members seem rude.

 

Attached is a pdf of the flat pattern since I can’t upload a CAD .dxf file. Hopefully between the flat pattern drawing attached and the drawing I posted earlier you can reproduce the sheetmetal flat. If you want, PM me and I can send you a .dxf that you can take into any CAD system.

Also, a few words on the design. If you’re bolting it to the studs that hang down from the tank straps like I did, measure where your studs actually are compared to the drawing. It may be that every Tacoma has these studs in a different location along the strap. Maybe make a paper template from the drawing attached and double check before you make the part. Also, the standoffs were welded at a slight angle in the holes in the plate (see attached photo) to match the angle of the strap studs. Lastly, my fuel tank plate was bent with .060” inner bend radius so the drawing reflects this. If you’re making yours out of bent sheetmetal, double check what your bend radius is on a piece of scrap before bending the real thing and then adjust the flat dimensions accordingly.
