Are you sure that’s a Tacoma you’ve got there? Is it a 3.0 or 3.4?

Either way you’ll need an ECU, yes.

    Bell housings will be different.

If you're in Texas I'd know plenty of people willing to trade their 22re for a 3.4

I guess the real question is would the 22re be enough power for the bigger truck.

Anyway it’s not a direct bolt up. Different trans, transfer case, motor mounts etc.,

I know Summit Racing make adapter plate for many mods of the like as for ECU that would entirely depend on what 22R you went for like a carburetor unit with good ole points type ignition it can be a very basic set up however better check with regulations about going with older engine since that truck is only 23 years old I think you can do what you want if it is 25 years or older but I am not the expert on that...

If it’s a 3.0 then you’re looking at a pickup, not a Tacoma. And no the 22re does not even come close to bolting in. Find a 3.4 to swap or put another 3.0 in.

    Than what?

All depends just how much of a budget you have .

Depending on your skills the relocation of the frame mounts that the motor mounts attach to.

for all the work this takes you may as well do a 3.4 swap almost as much work
