Mine doesn't search either - manual trans. But I only get 18-20 mpg.

Have you guys even seen the residual resale values of a space pen vs a pencil?

Had one of those Parker space pens,
    Fucker broke within six months..

To me none of those numbers matter. Pick the truck that works for you.
I would take just about any of the modern trucks on the market. They all have some cool shit going on the the power train department....... and they all got problems

My manual taco pulls a 18.5 like clockwork. City, interstate.... doesn’t matter l love it.
My last 5.3 2WD struggled to get 16

What's MDS stand for? My buddies dad put nearly 400k on a hemi ram, did have more than it's fair share of non-engine problems. Also got more like 11mpg.

    Still stock completely capable!
Rum and coke time!! go on ... LOL .. I Think every Friday we should just make a post called Fubar Friday’s so we can all just talk about random shit since a lot of these posts turn into that anyways. OP problem is most of us are die hard Tacoma fans! I personally get around 23-26 MPG city driving and don’t find my truck hunts for gears ever to be honest. Maybe I’m just lucky. As far as new technology goes some times there’s bumps in the path but that’s all part of evolving technolgy. Sure some older engines are bullet proof BUT chances are they don’t get the same MPG or maybe don’t even pass certain areas emission regulations. I agree there are bigger heavier vehicles that get better MPG but they are not a Toyota and chances are you will spend a lot more $$ getting them to 300,000miles than a tacoma. Not a bad post and I honestly laughed at the Russian pencil story ! Thanks
