P0986 shift solonoid problems helppp

hey guys i have a 2004 4 runner 4.7 v8

I got the code p0986 shift solonoid e ... toyota told me their was corosion on my female and male connector so before changing the solonoid at 500$ cdn i should start by changing the harness on the valve body so i brought it to toyota to get this done but when they open my pan they said i had some
Metal shaving inside and my tranny was blown but i didnt buy that because the tranny was shifting well and not slippin so the tech told me to buy a new tranny they didnt want to continue working on it ... i got it home want decided to do it myself



These are both connector sooo what i did is replace the one in the valve body and clean the female part i even removed the black peace on the female plug to clean it and see if the corosion had gone farther inside ... was kinda hard to make sure a 100%
I check with a volt meter to see if i had power going to each wire and i had some in almost each of them the only thing i did not check prior of puting the pan back on is checking that sr solonoid to see if that was really the problem... i was minded that it was a corrosion issue... i refill the tranny woth almost 6.5 quartz of ws fluid 6.5 is because toyota empty it and sat in parking for a week so i empty it again ...i checked the e5-9 on the ecu side was getting power their also
I plug the obd2 scanner removed the engine code and got it for a ride and it looked fine for a 10 min was shifting in od but i think when the oil heated up check engine show up and didnt want to shift enymore into od.Also when i got back at the shop i noticed when the truck is cold or tranny .. when i shift selector from park to reverse or drive its smooth but when its warmed up or check engine on it makes a clunk when changing from park to reverse or drive

I dont know were too look enymore

2 options im thinking of is removing my transmission pan again to check that sr solonoid isn’t fried with volt meter

The other one is too buyy a female plug with those

And cut the wires and redo all the wires insted of changing the hole female harness to ecm ....

Everything i did came
From a post on this forum too help me with this project but now i need more help on digging farther in the electrical maybe

This post is from back in November of 18 .I remember working with the op through pm,s but I am not sure if he managed to get his trans working properly ?
I like the pictures showing the green death on the pins of the harness connection . Dont take these trucks swimming gentlemen , the harness seals are not as sealed as you are lead to beleive .
We see this green death on any electronic component underneath the truck
It would be nice if he could chime in with an update

 

If I need a new connector because mine is still corroded after cleaning, what am I to type in the google white space to fine a male or female connector?

 

You could talk with Bob . I beleive he is starting to make the harnesses .There are other options as well ,but I would give Bob a try first .
