    Hello,

I'm a fucking idiot, and I'm new here.

I am interested in OVTune, but what stops me from pulling the trigger are all the posts requesting updates.

I am interested in fixing the Tacoma "problems." Why are "we" waiting on the next update? 1510 pages.

Buy the tune, get tuned, wait for the updates and in the meantime enjoy the greatest thing to have happened to the 3rd Gen Tacoma.

I absolutely believe it's the right thing to do. But my question is what's up with updates? Why update? Are you not happy with whatever OVTune did for the truck originally? What is being updated? Why was it not updated originally? Did we create more problems than we started with? Many questions from just some idiot on the interwebs.

This tune currently is a finalization in progress..

I apologize, are you saying the version number people are waiting for will be a final tune? Not an alpha, not a beta, but the final version? Did I find this at the right time?

Same reason any software gets versioning. R&D feedback from users. The beauty of tuning is finite polishing.

Just grab some popcorn and enjoy this looney bin for a while

Pretty much. Ovtune was about to release his ‘final’ version and Toyota dropped a tsb on everyone, and he also got access to full ECU code, so he’s been accounting for effects of the tsb (incorporating those into tune) and adding his own magic... gear lock in ‘S mode + ECT on’ combo.

If you are looking for unpaid, best you can get results, go get the latest TSB. Other wise purchse the tune

The updates are because this is a complicated piece of software bloat that takes time to dissect. So as one puzzle piece is found to fit, another update is released, and the trucks is even better.

95% of people are happy with the tune.

General Shift logic, timing, Atkinson and Otto values are being updated. As well as S-mode shift logic (will actually hold the gear).

Ovtune was originally a one-man show , so updates took time.

No we did not make things worse than when it was started.

No, no one has had any significant problems with the tune at a dealer or otherwise, that I have heard.

True, but remember that Mat can only get seat time with the A/T tune at present. M/T mule in the stable would make a huge difference for our tunes IMO, you can only go so far with remote testing/feedback.

    Good morning everyone!
    - I'd recommend you don't pay too much attention to what is on our FB page. Remember we are EcuTek Master Tuners on every platform and do tune other cars!
    - Main post will be updated by end of week (sunday)

    - I temporarily removed the handheld because it people kept trying to purchase even with it sold out, and spam us with emails.

    - Finally, we would like to start featuring some trucks we've tuned on our FB, and eventually on our website. Anyone who has our tune and extensive mods, who would like us to post pictures and a few details about your truck, please send us an email.

Perhaps find a few ‘average joes’ as well. They outnumber mod monsters 99:1 and are a viable buying demographic based on sheer numbers.

(im)Patiently waiting!!! I'm happy you're taking the time to make it pefect, or as near as can be made, Mat! It's like a Christmas present, knowing it's something you want but having to wait for it. Builds the anticipation but also builds the appreciation. I appreciate your attention to detail and delaying it to make it right.

I don't know about "extensive" mods, but if bigger, heavier tires, lift, snorkel, and small odds and ends count, I'm happy to show off my modest truck.

Nobodies work was being stolen...you could only load that 1.04r someone sent you if you were a paying OVtune customer who had previously registered your Truck through the dongle system. If you are dongle less you have to get 1.04r from OVTune.

It is simpler, no doubt about it. The problem is, my feedback is different from the next guy. I may have different tastes and/or my truck responds differently than yours to the exact same file. Mat has no way of getting behind the wheel and feeling what I feel. We're all trying to relate to Mat what the truck is doing, which is difficult at times. Logs help of course, but there's nothing like experiencing it yourself. Also, don't forget that there are things that Mat can't really duplicate with an A/T truck. Even with gear lock, it won't be the same.

I've run 91 Octane Full Otto and 91 Modified Atkinson files, and have provided logs. Some other guys have as well. There are things that I really like about the FO file and a couple that I don't like. I don't have enough miles on MA to really review it, but it has better midrange response ON MY TRUCK.
