Always wanted one. Especially love the looks of the 3rd gen. Had a kid so the 2 door Accord (which I also loved!) wasn't so practical. Seems like I always need to haul something. Rugged and reliable. Enjoy driving down the occasional back road or around my parents farm.

    And did anybody say inferno??

Eighteen year old Buick La Sabre was beginning to get hard to fix. Heavily researched mid sized to full sized 4x4 for reliability. After test driving to death everything that was available got a blaze blue Limited with most of all the bells and whistles. Had the most fun playing mind games with the dealers finance guy. The best he could do was six year 782.00 a month at zero percent the first three years and two point five for the rest of the note. Pulled out checkbook to pay for it. Idiot wasn’t going to remove the built in interest when asked. Was going to walk away when dealership owner stepped in and made it happen. Saved about ten thousand dollars for his interventions.

I think so too! Building camrys 8 hours a night leads to me telling me girlfriend “hey I might’ve built that car” every time I see a new Camry on the road lol

    Consolidation !
After retiring we went from 4 vehicles down to 2 .
We still have an SUV , for traveling and such .
The new truck had to take the place of a 1 -a summer fun car , 2 - a truck to pull the boats and trailers for yard work etc. , and 3 - an affordable to drive daily driver .
Our Tacoma does it all and does it well !

Had a 2003 TRD and lost it in a breakup, swore to my dog wed have another truck for her to ride in the bed before she died. She's almost 16, still spry and hornery as ever, and we have lots of adventures. Not to mention the occasional off roading. Love my Tacoma. Oh, and I forgot to mention... we like pulling other trucks and Jeeps out when they get stuck.

3rd Gens are the perfect mixture of ruggedness, reliability, and comfort. Ever since I sold my 1st gen(rust reasons) I have been obsessing over getting another tacoma. Got married, bought a house, settled down, FINALLY got the OK from my wife so a month ago i bought an '18 DCSB TRD OR W/ Tech/Prem. All i have to say is I am in love with this truck. The loudest people are the ones who are unhappy, so to anyone who is on the fence and currently scrolling through the opinions of others take my advice and TAKE ONE FOR A TEST DRIVE. I feel like a spoiled brat knowing i get to drive this truck everyday, and my cheeks are tired from my $hit face grin everytime i grab my keys...

My thoughts exactly, I came from an 05 Dakota and was tired of fixing it or having to fab everything off road related that i might want. I wanted the offroad capability of a jeep (and aftermarket support), but I needed a bed

Well let's face it, with all the faults it may have. There is nothing else you can buy for a midsize that holds its value, plus the Tacoma looks the best.

I never have had a truck before, but needed one. After looking at all the available midsize options it was simple. I wanted quality, comfort, and a manual transmission. Check, check, check.

After crossing over 270k on my DD 80 series I just wanted something new :). My FJ40 keeps me plenty busy in the garage and my wallet empty, I didn't need two aging trucks so the 80 was sold shortly after the Tacoma purchase. I'm really happy with it and feel like it is safer for hauling the kids around. I just wish that it had more cup holders ;)

My first Toyota was an’86 Tercel 4WD wagon, then came the 94 Corolla, the 02 Sienna, and the 08 Corolla. Liked ‘em all. This time I wanted a truck!

Nice thread OP! So I CAN read a TW thread and not have to immediately look up a TSB or question my truck purchase. Is this, . . . a safe space?

I bought my Tacoma because..... I always wanted a Tacoma, needed 4x4, and because my crappy 06 Colorado was a POS. It had rust in the dipstick, heads wearing away (silly 5 cylinder engine) and I was out of the recall even tho my engine had the same problem as everyone else. it was just a terrible truck.

    Love my Tacoma!

Ice storm, oncoming driver lost control and hit me head on. I walked away with bumps and bruises, so did the other driver. Both vehicle’s totaled. Air bags and seatbelts for the win.
