wow, damn thats literally the worst thing i've heard anyone write about. if you bring it anywhere have a friend follow you , tell them to fix it considering its still under warranty and call you when they are done, ride home with friend and wait a week, call them to find out if they are done then if they're still not done call corporate and inform the dealership that you have called Toyota and they can call when they have the truck fixed... that dipshit who yells at customers you should punch that dude in the mouth to remind him not everyone will take being talked to like child ( to avoid an assault charge don't do that) but definitely tell that dude to eat a bag of dicks..sorry for the profanity but that crap irritates me to no end...good luck with your struggle and hopefully it gets fixed soon

Get all correspondence in writing to include any records up until now. Record conversations if legal in your jurisdiction. Contact corporate and advise your service provider that the issue is being monitored by corporate. Since it is an extreme long term issue with part of the emissions system, contact your states emmissions dept along with the EPA vehicle emissions dept. All of these at the same time handled professionally will get attention for sure.

Just FWIW, Toyota has canceled warranty coverage for off-road use.

So, while irritating, the “you’re saying it isn’t designed for get dirty and off-roaded” argument is a failing one. I’d find one more reasonable to normal use, like day to day trips.

    It is true.

You’re welcome to file suit, I guess.

Well yesterday it was really cold and the CEL just went off with a quarter tank of gas. It is never done that before. In the past it has only gone off when I have filled it so now it just seems random

the evap system is emissions control. to not repair it is in violation of federal law. read your warranty book's emissions warranty. if you can take it to an emissions test facility and ask for a voluntary inspection, it will fail with the cel on. open a case with toyota corporate and show them the documentation of failure. tell toyota how you were treated and from now on you will only deal with the general manager - not the service manger or "customer care" manager. does the repair order state the problem is debris in the tank? if so, ask for evidence. emissions isn't like a door rattle or bad paint. toyota is granted permission to sell cars here because they have agreed to follow emissions laws, so yeah it's a BFD - just ask the guy that used to be president of VW. in the pecking order of a dealership a service advisor is not very high on the food chain. when the GM gets a call from toyota corporate I can guarantee you who is going to get yelled at next.
