Get a load of the ball (joints) on that guy

I'm doing a frame swap and we're doing longish travel in the rear. I plan to do LT up front soon. Once the swap is done.
One thing I dislike about these first gens is the LBJs and how they kind dangle. Wobble to and fro... Which of the available LT kits replace the LBJs with the new LCAs? I'd love to have something a little more bombproof than the dangling balls they come with stock.

Solo makes a uniball adapter, but by the time you put that in conjunction with a regular lt kit with fab'd spindles and add heimed steering, you're basically at the same cost of their xlt kit.

 

Esb makes a kit with lower Uniballs as well,
Plenty of ways to beef it up, Yes the LBJs seem flimsy, i mean 4 bolts hold it in ic hanged my bolts to grade 8 and haven't had a problem thus far,
I believe a few others make lower uniballs as well, but look at some of the total chaos guys running LBJ and they hold up just fine to some serious stuff.

 

He's 4x4, but yeah lots of guys do the stock spindle / lbj lt route for sure. @BikerinBlak909 just got a 2wd kit from JD fab I believe that does away with the lbj

He is making parts again and with his numbers pushing past the 13" mark bet more people go that route once they hear about it.

 

Wow, talk about making a comeback - without seeing something regarding what cv's he'll offer, I'd stick with DD or Solo - that can be a pita and an expensive rabbit hole, but hopefully we'll see what it is altogether on a truck here pretty soon.

TC can just use parts store 1st gen tundra cv's unless you want to go all out w/ custom shafts. With a 4.5 kit you'd have to be totally custom and there's not many places that do that (RCV is the only one I know of without having a friend at a machine shop that would make it worth your time) and that's like $700 a shaft.

 

right, its just the shaft that makes the length. Then machine off the lip of inner cv and high angle cv boots. There is a write up to make your own that is 3.5 over,
i'm using same thing from CVJ however i had them make another notch to extended my axles .5" over a stock tundra 18" shaft, the reason is my kit is about 4" over perside. They did say they could match my original .75" with a custom shaft how ever the shaft from them alone was 250.00 i believe and the .5" works for me.
