    What is the best tool to cut the two long steering rack mounting bolts? Looks like a tight fit in there as well.

    Never had to cut a bolt to get something out and I'd like to be prepared with the right tools and new bolts when I tackle this project.

    I used a 3” disc on a zippy wheel.

    They cut easy

    It makes it soooo much easier to put them in from the bottom!

    Just go to the local Toyota Stealership. I over-paid $21.00. Well worth it for the right stuff in this case IMHO.

    @Dr. Sleep @EatSleepTacos
    Question, does the metal collar come out of the reman rack too? The rubber came out like a bitch...the metal stayed in. It appears in your photo above that the pickle fork is under the metal too...
    I have the exact same R&P part number and ordered the exact bushings (which was a 8 piece set, 4 poly bushings and 4 metal collars). Assuming this is them https://www.energysuspensionparts.com/8.10106

    Be sure to save the old nuts, the above part # does not come with them.

    Hey all, recently noticed a leak in my drivers side boot after a recent inner tie rod replacement and PS fluid exchange. Not sure why its leaking at 96k miles but unfortunately it is. I have read through this whole thread and there is tons of great information. I have put some Lucas PS stop leak for the time being, but a rack replacement will be inevitable in the near future. Looked on rockauto and found the R&P's.

    To those that purchased the remanned A1 Cardone unit, how is it holding up? Also, i noticed Cardone has a brand new unit for approx $100 more. Would it be worth it for me to purchase that one instead of the remanned? The new one comes with a LT warranty vs the 3 year/36k mile warranty the remmaned unit comes with. Also potentially considering purchasing OEM but it is right at $700 for the rack, and the fact that my current one is going out at under 100k doesnt give me too much faith in another OEM unit...

    Just for info sake for anyone reading this in the future, the OEM part number for a 2013 DCSB OR is 4425004040, which you can see corresponds with both new and remmaned Cardone units below.

    Also I already purchased the ES bushings, planned on doing those at some point a while back, but with this new discovery I've also got to replace the rack lol.

    I wouldn't bother with the poly bushings. They're going to increase NVH and decrease the life span of the rack

    I bought the A1 cardone, and it took a dump after a year and a half or so. I'm not even mad though from the abuse I put it through. RockAuto was amazing and I was able to get a new rack, all online, totally free within a few days. It's a non issue for me since I do the work myself, but if you have to pay a shop for the work then that would be a bummer, having to pay for labor again.
