One of the keys to dependable batteries life is keeping it clean and free of corrosion around the terminals, A battery that is wet with dirt on the top of it actually discharges all the time even if Nothing is connected to the terminals you can see this by taking a Volt meter on DC read out and placing the Positive probe on the positive terminal then if the battery is wet and dirty place the negative probe anywhere on the top of the battery and chances are you will get a reading.

So to Prevent this there are 2 simple things you can do that will extend the life of the battery. 1st one is obvious keep the top of the battery clean. 2nd one is get the felt rings that go one the battery post under the terminal clamps and simply keep them lightly saturated with motor oil. however since the oil will attract dirt I just clean the battery top with baking soda / water mix and the felt rings at the same time keeping them in place so no you do not have to disassemble anything just clean em then re-oil them again, you can find them in auto parts stores and Amazon. (I have the Same Battery in my Toyota 1st Gen Tacoma going on 12 years now).

I've found this beats the colored felt rings, been using it for years.

Mine didn't die, but I replaced with a Northstar agm. Didn't want the old one to die when I was in the middle of nowhere on a dirt road. Also got sick of cleaning the leaking water all the time so the metal wouldnt corrode everywhere near the battery. Whoever thought of putting a flooded cell battery in a truck sold as "off road" wasn't thinking clearly......I know I know, cost is the major factor.
