Changing Diff Fluid ?'s and i read all the other posts

I just got my first Tacoma, 96 2.7 4x4 reg cab - just turned 237k this morning. Im going to change the diff fluid in the front and rear tomm and ive read all the posts on here and im somewhat thoroughly confused, but this is what ive gathered. - dont use syn gear oil in the rear, but maybe in the front? use lsd additive in the rear? but is my 96 limited slip?

so basically should i be using an additive or not? and should i use synthetic in the front diff? and does additive go in the front? thanks in advance.

also in that motor with all the miles, would you use 5w30 synthetic or 5w30 with lucas oil stabilizer??

 

thanks again. well i guess i can tell you now, the guy at advance recommended that i go with 10w 30 valvoline max life syn blend and the lucas oil stabilizer, so thats what was put in it. it may be me just being nervous but i think the motor feels a little more sluggish, so im guessing that your going to recommend draining that eh?

Not exactly sure what you mean by this.... When you buy 'new' gear oil off the shelves...it'll say whether or not it has LSD additives in it already. But then again....I just found out that the Mobile 1

75w-90 LS doesn't have friction modifier in it. They just advertise it as being OK to use with LSD's.

 

Just because your engine feels sluggish...isn't necessarily because of the oil.

Holy crap, your truck has 237K miles on it.

I'd run some fuel injector cleaner in the gas and start working on all the other maintenance items - and maybe, just maybe...you'll get a midlife crisis out of it. But....at 237K miles, I'd be glad she's still going!!
