Looking to get a nice waterproof and insulated jacket that will hold up to work and not get torn easily and what not. I was checking out some cathartt jackets but in the pictures online they seem like they wouldn’t hold up to being used while working under a car or might tear easily and what not.

Let me know what you have/recommend!

    Thanks!

I've had a Carhartt Active Jacket for 10+ years of tree work/plumbing and heating/equipment operation. It's showing some wear around the cuffs, but there are no major holes or tears and the zipper still works. It's not exactly waterproof but it will take a few hours of rain before it's completely soaked.

I don't know how Carhartts are made nowadays, but I have a 13 year old one that I wear for working in and it's held up very well. It's stained up but hasn't worn through yet, and that's with a lot of outside work inciudimg crawling under vehicles in the driveway when I don't feel like opening the garage. Like ChainsawCharlie said above, it holds the water out pretty well, but I wouldn't says it's completely waterproof. I suppose you could apply the waterproof spray for canvas/tents/boots.
