Every year for the last 50, I've hoisted a toast to my absent comrades; my brothers-in-arms ("sisters" too); all of my clan who served; and especially to those in uniform Today who now protect us all!
For the many I knew who did not return, I say their name out loud, so they'll never be forgotten.

    Yesterday, USMC's 243rd birthday, I learned a new toast:
Here's to cheating, stealing, fighting, and drinking!
If you're going to cheat - cheat death.
If you're going to steal - make it someone's heart. (or something from the Army)
If you're going to fight - have it be for a fellow Marine.
If you're going to drink - then, by God, share a wee dram with me!

To you all, I offer that wee dram with me ANYTIME. I salute you!
(Today marks the 100th anniversary of the origin for Veterans Day = then end of WW1. Remember it with reverence. Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know.)

    Semper Fidelis

Thank you to all veterans past and those members currently in service! It is an honor to be your countryman.

Here's a couple throwback photos of my Grandfather serving as a 1st Lieutenant in the 101st circa 1950s, cheers to you sir! You are greatly missed!:

What haunts me till this day is that we could have turned N Vietnam to ashes with our air power, but chose to sacrifice 58,000 troops in a war which for political reasons wasn't finished. So many troops lost for no logical reason. I am happy I made it but still think about those who were lost.

I went to get my hair cut today, did not think anything of it just going to get my 20$ hair cut as normal. When i went to pay the women politely asked me to put my card away, leave, and said thank you for serving. I was kind of shocked. I also hate “using military discounts” for my choice to serve. So thank you to everyone that does such kind gestures for people. You all really do make just as much of a difference!

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!

First off -- I was there-in the air (combat missions ) I agree with your assessment that we "could have'. But what would we have gained -- the war had dragged on by the time that decision would have been made, and a large majority of the deaths had happened. It would have been a 'revenge thing' and we (he US) would have been left with another country to rebuild that we had destroyed --think WWII. WE should have got out sooner when it was obvious we were in something we should have never been in the first place. It was one of those unwinnable wars. That's all I will say on this!

As a Veteran, I also want to thank my dad, who fought in the Korean war
and the only one left out of his three other brothers,
A,B,C,D Quads. Anthony, Bernard, Carl (My Dad) And Donald.
The only Quadruplet Brothers to ever fight in a war with
special permission from then Sen. Johnson.
Dad was the Tank Commander of his Unit.

To all who have served, Thank You and it was a privilege and honor for me to serve.

I wish the Veterans of long past could see and feel the Honor and respect our Country gives its Veterans today because it was not always that way. As a Veteran I am Blessed to witness it in my lifetime. I will never forget those I served with and my time on the flight deck launching Aircraft in an environment that takes total professionalism. As a DoD employee working alongside Active duty and Air Guard personnel I want to give a shout out to all my fellow Civilians who deploy and train with the Uniformed service member for the fight.

To all the fellow Marines out there, enjoy your glue and crayons.
Formation is tomorrow at 0400 for the PFT to start at 0700. Better not see anyone wearing warming layers. I’ll be in my truck watching you to make sure. If I’m not cold then you shouldn’t be cold.

Well I got to find out today that I owe ~$10k in medical for a service connected disability so thats cool. Gotta love Tricare. But thats cool cause the VA told me to pack sand and they can only help me during my new working hours.

    I definitely feel the love.
