I am sure there are many heroic and selfless stories during these wild fires raging in California, but this one caught my eye. Good for this nurse, good fro the bulldozer driver - many m,any stories will come out of each other helping in there own way. My wife is nurse and I imagine she would do the same thing to help her patients. During the 2008 Ice storm she drove WAAAY out of her way just to get to the ER and then stayed for a few days because other nurses couldn't get there. Me as a hose humper I was clearing roads so our apparatus could get to the entire town if need be. Anyway, all you CA folks, HFD is thinking of you guys!!

My favorite (not) are the cynical commenters in the article's comment section - "Toyota is only doing this for the publicity"...yeah, ok...and you're the exact same person that would be publicly shaming them online if they were to do nothing instead.

Good on him for helping others in danger...sure would be cool to know the story of the bulldozer operator that essentially saved his life, too!

A few additions to make me feel cool.
This guy is a bad ass for sure. This is why my truck is built the way it is. I do not off-road other than driving down some BLM roads every once in a while but if I ever need it in a situation like this it is ready. Good for the owner of this truck understanding the truck could be sacrificed and the lives are what matter. Good for Toyota on stepping up whatever the motivation is for doing so. The sad part is how many people and how much property was lost all around. At least one of these stories will have a decent ending.

I'm shocked the tires withheld the heat. The mirror is melted, rocker is burned, etc.. tires held up

The guy lost his home and his income also, as his workplace is now gone. There's a GoFundMe page for him and his family:

Good for him. That must’ve been a scary moment. How about a tip of the hat to the bulldozer driver??

Toyota...great that they are offering him a new truck. Although you can’t buy that kind of publicity for $30-some-odd-K.
