Why is it that when you're young, the license is an 8x10 giant thing but when you get older, it's tiny?

    Congrats on getting your license!

Everyone is being so fucking awesome. I can't go guys, but I'm pulling together a bunch of toddler clothes, including fleeces and jackets, plus toys, etc. And whatever else I can grab. Some used hand me downs, some with tags still on or bought new barely used. I'll review earleir posts to see what else is needed. Maybe I can coordinate with Ferny to drop in Sac later this week? After work? Please add me to the conversation. I think about those little ones and their parents, and I cry. Like right now. I can't imagine.

We are going to be passing through Sac, on our way. If you can’t get it done this week we can coordinate a meet Saturday morning.

Just a heads up to folks thinking about donating. I read in article in the Redding paper yesterday that said the donation centers cannot accept any used clothing or goods. They stated the best things to give are new clothes, new blankets, new pillows, and mostly gift cards right now so families can go to Target, etc and start buying new items. I don't know why they can't accept any used items, but that's just what the article said. It sounds like when they receive used items they are required to sort and wash anything they could potentially distribute to those in need and that's taxing on the resource center staff.

    https://www.redding.com/story/news/2018/11/11/camp-fire-victims-donations-needed/1967406002/

However, I've read other places that they are accepting used items, just wanted to provide some insight.

It sounds like that may be the case for some agencies like Red Cross, but other organizations like churches are taking used items too, from what someone posted earlier.

Yep, managing that much stuff can be a logistical nightmare and resource strain in an already tough situation. But I hate to see a stack of perfectly good warm jackets for toddlers in our closet when I know people are going to be freezing their asses off up there. I thought about buying a ton of diapers, too, but those are super bulky and then I thought that would be better served through Target cards that are more flexible for individual family needs.

Yeah, but my office is at I80 and I5, whereas my house it 30 minutes away from there, on a good day. I have family business Saturday morning....
