Dobinsons 2nd Gen Tacoma Snorkel

Just cut your fiberglass like I did. Mine is an airflow snorkel but same concept with the fiberglass

 

I just checked a guys at work. Air box is completely different but plumbing looks same as far a location of hole in fender.

Can the scoop be swapped with a pre-cleaner like the safari snorkel? If so, is this an easy swap that can be done in the field as needed.

Yep. I'm pretty sure it's the 3.5" intake size. I'll have to remeasure it here when we get them in.

Yes, it's a hose clamp that holds it on, so it's fast to swap.

 

@Comatose looks like you were right with free shipping. FUCK. I didn't even want a snorkel but now I do.

 

Any plans to sell a pre-cleaner as an accessory, or perhaps make it an add-on option when buying the snorkel?

 

I've always like them, but never could justify the price for how much I would actually need one. I may actually pull the trigger if Mike does...

 

No, no plans. We don't make one. Donaldson pre-cleaners are sold here in the states to farmers pretty readily. I think I've even seen them at Tractor Supply stores in the past.

 

He already did! And I'm in the same boat. Could never justify it for the price, and never liked the look of the ebay hilux snorkel adapted onto these trucks. This fits the bill perfectly but not for much longer. @Dobinsons Mike how long is the pricing going to stick around?

Do you have a photo of the holes required? I'm more interested in whatwis drilled into the A pillar than the fender since the fender can be replaced.

 

Okay, one more question. Does driving in rain with the scoop pointed forward cause any issues with water ingestion? I've asked several folks in the past without getting a good answer, so now that we have a manufacturer on the line I figured I'd try asking again.

 

A lot of people will just use industrial velcro to secure it to the A pillar. That's what I'm going to do if I get one.

This should help explain it. The head has small holes. The water would hit the back of the air ram and go out the holes. Any that does pass through would also be dried by the passing air, and then also caught in the air filter. The angled shape of the head helps reduce water intake. Of all the vehicles I've driven with a snorkel, I've never had an issue. It's only in a river or something if a huge splash gets up in there, then you've got something to worry about.
