Griots Garage 6" DA with a 5" backing plate and 5.5" pads. Lifetime warranty. Perfect machine for a weekend warrior. More powerful than Porter Cable, much less expensive than everything else.

    Porter/Cable works great for me.

I’ve had great results with my Flex polisher.

Rupes big foot is the best I have found for d/a and i have used pretty much every major name brand available over the last decade or so.

Since I've had (or have) polishers from Porter-Cable (7424 & 7424XP), Griots, Flex (3401) and Rupes (Bigfoot), I think I can offer some decent advice. For the occasional detailer, it's hard to beat the P-C or the Griot's machines. With the Griot's currently being cheaper, that would be the best bet. The Flex and Rupes machines are significantly more expensive - and much more capable. I'd only recommend one of these if you detail on a pretty regular basis. Of the two, I prefer my Flex. Just my 2 cents.

Not sure how long it's lasting but Pep Boys has a sale going for 30% (not just on Griot's products) off the usual fixed price of $150. Usually the Autogeek sales exclude the polishers so this is a really good deal. Also if you ever decide to step up to a more expensive machine you could slap a 3" backing plate on this one for working in tighter areas.
