Just joined the forum. I finally picked up a Tacoma. Found a nice double cab, 2004 with little to no rust for a halfway decent price. Will figure out how to post pictures and update this thread.

Thanks. Currently have a few small quirks that I'm working through with the Taco. I'm a Subaru guy first and foremost, so still getting to know the truck, the smells, etc.

For example, When I come to a dead stop, I get a significant "thunk". At first, I thought it was the suspension settling, but I think it may be the transfer case/transmission shifting on the bushings. So that may be an upgrade in the near future, new bushings.

I have a decently large smell of burning oil (I think it's oil) when I turn the car off and get out. I can also smell either slight oil or exhaust smell through the heater. Slightly concerned about that for the winter.

I have a remote starter on the car, but unless it's nice and warm, it never fires up the first time. If I crank the car with the key, it usually takes a full 1.5 seconds or so to get going. Already replaced spark plugs, thinking of replacing inline fuel filter too. Hoping I don't have to replace fuel pump.
