Love my truck but not a fit for 2 young kids.

What’s my Taco actually worth in today’s market?

2017 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 Crew, Silver, 18k miles (commuter), no extras/mods. No wrecks or scratches. Raleigh, NC.

One dealer offering $31000 for trade - is that fair?

Private sale vs trade advice would be incredibly helpful. Thanks for any ideas.

31k sounds fair but it depends what you are trading in for too.

What are you trying to buy. Numbers will be manipulated if the salesman knows you’re trying to get the most for your truck. Example. I paid sticker for my truck but got $5k over KBB on trade. They took the discount and added it to my trade.

The stealer is going to come out way ahead, no matter what or who you try. Sell it outright yourself or get bids from mass auto box retailers.

Look into having to pay full taxes on the $30k if you privately sell it when you go to buy again. If you trade you won't pay taxes on that trade-in allowance. Here in Tennessee that would be maybe $2100 or so maybe.

Basically you'll have to get $2000 or so more on a private sell then trade-in to make it worth your while. Plus the hassle of finding a buyer.
