You gotta understand that Rick is a perfectionist. He likes polishing the knob until it is smoooth.

The other thing is that no matter what, the delrin will continue to break in over time. My non-tatted black knob is about 6mo old and is polishing up on its own. So whatever you might see right out of the box, in about six months or so, it will get even better.

If I am not mistaken, this was his first shot at a knob like this?

As an example, here is my knob just after Rick got done handling it:

This is my knob in September:

The lighting gave it a slightly different appearance than actual.

And it looks different and even smoother now.

Yep, that is literally the only knob I have made that is without a boot attachment of sorts.

Also throwing this down, I have 9 active orders right now. First 5 are shipping around 11/30-ish, and the remaining four by 12/14 or so (ambiguity added so @TeecoTaco doesn't nail me again for being late). 1 more slot open for the 12/14 ship date, and with the holidays coming lead times are going to be higher in general since I will probably take 2-3 weeks off.

I could make @olecoot style spacers from the Ti I have in stock ... but I'm not about copyright infringement. You were so close.

I like how you canucks spell "neighbour" and "colour", but the phonetic spelling for about is "aboot". Easily amused, I am.

I bet that Rick could give you a nice Ti spacer lift, if you're into that kind of thang?

Man, I appreciate! Really nice work!

Now that I’ve inspected it, curious how you get the Delrin on the ball.
Or is that a trade secret

If you rub the knob hard enough, it expands . . . slightly.

The light you see is the open garage door. It isn't any brighter outside.

I get the aluminum to this point, and just size the delrin sleeve to a slip fit(with a touch of friction to hold it in place while I drill the pin holes).

I actually drill pin holes in the aluminum first, slip on the ring (which looks like a bushing at this point, no radius) and then drill that out. It is important to at least rough machine out all of the aluminum first, because the chips can damage the delrin pretty easily. Then it goes back to the radius cutter to finish the delrin after it is pinned.

The grooves on either side of the ring are done last to give better edge strength to the delrin.

A @mesojdm creation. It took me forever to actually install it (slacker!). Now, I just need to sort out my mods.
