The only good HIDs Ive come across, are the factory ones.
In particular the ones in the Charger. Beautiful light, cut-off, etc. Cant say anything about buildup(not driven during bad weather, and never in the snow), but, they do burn pretty hot.

Havent really had much opportunity to drive the Taco at night, and the light output, is OK. Would love better, but.... I will settle for good SAE fogs. the KCs look good for the price, would really need to seem them in person, or at least some good shots while in use during snow, etc. preferably on a snow covered road.....

And @Bruce988jl Im going to look into a little. I could make a bracket, and mount them in the lower grill possibly..... I dunno.
Trying real hard not to mess with this like every other vehicle I have ever owned.

The issue, or not really issue, but thing I noticed with HIDs is the cutoff. I wasn't used to having such a sharp cutoff. Nice, wide, bright light below the line and nothing but darkness above. I've always been used to at least a little light scatter so that was very new to me. They were pretty awesome lights, it was a complete kit from TRS, but I ultimately had some issues with the projectors themselves and yanked them out.

If you have the oem foglights these will fit:
    https://www.diodedynamics.com/fog-light-leds-for-2016-2018-toyota-tacoma-pair.html

Get the amber SLF ones (MSRP is 120$ - let me know I can get shipping to your place waived)
I had their older model of these led foglights and they were super bright.
@BananaPeelOut has them now.. that is.. if he ever installed them..........

Travelling this week, got back to Logan at 1130 last night. Roads were pretty crappy, never saw a plow once on my way home. Visibility was kind of crappy, lots of cars sliding all around doing 10mph on the mass Pike. I kept a steady 35mph, no problems. I was actually really surprised at how the MTs fared in the snow. I'd say traction was on par or maybe better than my KO2. I think it helped being unplowed, 6-8" of snow the whole way . I'm sure packed snow would have sucked on the mud terrains.

Couldn't even count the # of cars off the road/ spun out. I just kept driving though, tow trucks were out in full force, I didn't have my recovery crap, and I had been up since 3am and just didn't feel like it.

I've had three windshields done by them and they've done a good job on all of them.

Unfortunately that’s the shop (x3 locations) that caused everything. They eventually got it right but not without serious headaches. My suspicion is the initial shop that used non-OEM glass when it shouldn’t have (and caused $900 worth of paint damage I couldn’t get repaired in time) did such a poor job that it rendered the next few installs poor as well.

I’m sure your son does top notch work, though. I’d have no issue going to someone specific but as a whole I’ve been soured by the chain, and the way some of the people there treated me.

I've used Safelite about 4 or 5 times and they have been great every time. They come to my office, do it in the parking lot and it's always been a perfect job.

Cleanup this evening was awesome. Two passes with the blade angled to push the snow away from the house, then two with it in 'scoop' to clean up the center. Would have been at least 7 or 8 trips back and forth with the old rig. And the new plow is heavy enough that you can back drag light snow like this even without a back drag edge.

Plowing with this truck is going to spoil me rotten.

Once you go v-plow you'll never want a straight blade again. There are very few situations where a straight blade is better...and the v can turn into a straight edge in 1 second.

You got a strobe on top? Sounds like the new truck is really doing the trick for you.

Yep. Just a magnetic base. I hate the people that plow with just their hazards on and expect you to see them during the day, so I've always had a strobe mounted when I'm plowing.
When I had the center console out to install the wiring and switch for the rear spots (pics below) I also installed a switch that runs to this thing and hard-mounted it in the space under the rear seats. The cord for the strobe runs though the rear sliding window and behind the rear seat and plugs into the multi-outlet unit. Then when I pull into a driveway and want to plow I can just flip the switches and have a strobe & a set of auxiliary reverse lights, and when I'm done I can just switch them off; no screwing around plugging something in and out.

I'm lazy like that. I'll spend an entire afternoon screwing around with something if it'll save me 10 seconds later on  I wired a similar setup into the old truck too, but connected the aux. lights to the reverse switch so they'd automatically turn on whenever I shifted into reverse. But since this is my DD, I wanted them to be selectable.

Last year I helped a lady and her dad that were stuck in a ditch along the highway. I pulled her out and towed her car a mile or so to her house.

She offered to pay and I said no.

The following day, she tried to find me ( we live in the same little town) and spotted the taco in the driveway.

Gave me an expensive bottle of saki and a box of premium chocolates and kept thanking me.

Found out that her family owned the local Chinese restaurant and she welcomed the fam to come over whenever we want.

I picked up a Corolla s for a commuter last year. The Firestone fr740 AS tires that come on the S models are garbage! The car would understeer horribly with the slightest bit of dampness on the road, and were terrifying in the snow.

Yup. A few years ago I tried to pull a heep out of a ditch in a blizzard. I think it was a a stock Jeep Liberty or something like that.

Not a singe recovery point on that freeking truck.

Next choice was to shovel it out. I pulled my shovel and the dood tried to show me where I should start shoveling.

I chuckled and handed him my shovel and waited in my truck to check into TW and to dry off because I wallowed around on the ground underneath his heep, in the deep snow trying to find a recovery point.
