I wouldn't send down the Trijicons, if I had to sand them too much the tritium would be all messed up or just look goofy. If I have to sand the Ameriglo Rear that wouldn't be a big deal.

You could just sand down the portion that needs to fit inside the slide right? I haven't had this issue and am far from an expert :)

I may not be thinking at full capacity (0215 where I'm at) but what would I need to sand the dovetail for? The reason for the Glock rear sight is a new dovetail is going to be milled into the slide behind the RDS and the dovetail for Glocks is smaller than the M&P dovetail, and also the M&P sighs extend back past the rear of the dovetail (would extend past the slide).
Unfortunately nobody online has posted details on their Glock rear sight on the M&P, in fact I've only seen one picture of one done.

I also am far from an expert, the gunsmith (older guy, starting to retire but has done several red dots on pistols) is also unsure of what exactly we need to do.
I'm fairly confident that following the geometry of the Trijicon sights will be close enough to be backup sights to the RDS, however I want to make sure I'm not oversimplifying it, and also I know nothing of the Trijicon sights other than the technical specs on their site, I don't know if they tend to be accurate or not.

Is the new dovetail being milled to Glock specs due to space constraints? I don’t have much experience with the M&p line so pardon my lack of knowledge with this.

Would it be possible to mill the RMR cut further back and have the standard m&p dovetail foreword of the rmr? I know this is not the most common set up but I have seen it done more than once on glocks, although that was probably for personal preference.

Nope, but thinking of mounting the old LC Smith on the dining room wall. It's retired and taking up too much space in my safe.

I have a pistol on my mantle above my fireplace. I built a stand out of oak that sits flat and has a post that I milled down into the same of the mag so the pistol sits on it

Yep, below is a picture of Glock style sights on an M&P, as you can see there’s very little meat on either side of the dovetail.
    10E0F04F-5B15-4162-91C7-1D965334B04D.jpg

I don’t know that is is possible simply due to the fact that the M&P sights extend a few tenths of an inch behind the dovetail edge.

I talked to the ‘Smith and he said that this should work.

Wow, I'm extremely impressed with Dawson Precision, called about the .385 x .125 tritium front sight (call to order on their website) and didn't have to wait at all to talk to a rep, told him what I was looking for and he immediately told me that if they didn't have one they could make one, and if they had made on prior then they wouldn't charge the $20 that they do when they make a "new" dimension sight. He found out they had made that sight before and put in an order right then, I pay when it comes in and it should be in from Trijicon in a few weeks.

Overall less than 4 minutes on the phone.

Picked this up today. Seems very well made for the price. Their smaller cases get great reviews so I figured I'd give it a try.
