i guess most of you guys rather install your own parts than pay a shop to do it right? i want to lift my truck but have little ex with mechanical work, i do body work and paint, also looking for people with exp to help me choose suspension parts, kind of lost with so many options out there lol

I did most of my own work on my 1st gen, since I bought my 2018 I decided I’d rather have a shop work on it to maintain as much warranty as possible. I had Mike’s Custom Toys in Grants Pass do the lift. The prices are Wheeler’s prices, install with alignment was $500. I couldn’t beat that and I didn’t have to do a damn thing. Mike was great to deal with, awesome folks down there.

No, it was $500 for installation and alignment at les schwab. $1150 for coils, leafs, shocks and drop kits. $500 was worth me not having to turn a wrench this time.

Any recs for places to get a lift and off-road accessories in the easter part of the state? The Dalles, Hermiston or Tri-Cities areas? Looking at Icon or King lift plus wheels.

Not particularly close, but down in Oregon City L&C Trucks does some good shit. I stopped in there for some minor gear and they run a nice shop and seem to know their craft.

Salem offroad did the install on my King 3.0 suspension with Total Chaos UCA's and Deaver leaf packs and did a great job. The owner is a master of his craft and does the installs himself. This place has a huge showroom stocked with everthing you need to wheel. The only thing they don't do is wheels and tires but they share a parking lot with a wheels and tire shop that can outfit you with whatever you may want or need. 20180925_124048.jpg 20180925_124103.jpg 20180825_183052.jpg

Deaver mini packs not sure the part # but its the one specific to the 3rd gen tacomas when doing up to 3" suspension builds. The ride is night and day from the stock bilsteins. I felt the stock suspension was a bit mushy especially when cornering. The King shocks firmed up the cornering and gave the over all ride a controlled feel even at speeds over 70. Offroad it's as expected soaking up the woops and the bumps with ease. All in all I couldnt be happier with this set up. I just ordered the Total Chas LCAs and rear bumps to round off the package.

Took the truck into Mikes Custom Toys to have some work done. Wow, I drove in thinking my truck was in good shape. I left there thinking i was in a new truck. Great guy to work with. Great shop and AMAZING work. Had my Icon 2.5 reservoir shocks all rebuilt. New 700lb springs added, rebuilt my UCA with the delta joints and replaced my Icon AAL with the Dakar leaf spring ELO95. My wife noticed the ride difference right alway. So much smoother. I will for sure go back when i need more work.
