Battery dead 2016 tacoma

In 1995 I bought a new 1996 Ford Ranger. After seven years I gave it to my Dad. Then when my Dad died in 2012 the Ranger went to my Brother who eventually sold it in 2017. The original Factory Motorcraft battery lasted an absurd period of time. I am thinking it was 13 or 14 years before we replaced that factory original battery. I just don't recall if it was a refillable type of battery or if it was the sealed type. I work with a lot of chemicals and I work with a lot of EDTA. I do not recall if I had added a small amount of EDTA to the battery. I might have.
