I have an 01 Toyota Tacoma V6 4X4 - Automatic transmission. Looking to replace both skid plates (engine guards) on my truck.

If someone has these available or knows a good deal on after-market parts I'd love to hear your suggestions.

    Regards

    Jon

I've got one from a 96' that is already sanded down and ready for paint, although I am unsure if it is the same skid plate for the 01's?

Edit: Did some research and turns out it is exactly the same, if you are interested in going OEM, ill happily send it to you for a fair price + shipping.

Great thanks for the offer... Can you tell me your engine size and if your automatic or manual.. If you PM me the last 8 digits of your VIN I can call up Toyota and just confirm yours fits my truck.

    Much appreciated!

Check out Budbilt for 1st gen skid plates if you're looking for something aftermarket that offers better protection.

Also Skidrow Offroad makes some good stuff for 1st gens

I was on the Skidrow Offroad site and they state: "For those of you with a suspension lift, this skid plate can be installed with a 1″ differential drop. However, you will need to provide your own spacers and longer bolts. Larger differential drops won’t work properly."
I have Bilstein 5100'S and have aprox a 2" suspension lift. I am not aware if there was any differential drop. It also seemed like my OEM skid plates fit fine. Do you think I will need longer or special bolts for the Skidrow Offroad plate? How can I determine if this will fit?

Not enough to have a build thread.
If your OEM skids fit, you'll be fine.

But I'm going to +1 for budbuilt. Excellent product and service.

Same. First mod i did as the truck was missing a skid plate of any kind. Nice

I have a mid travel lift, 2.5” and no problems. Would recommend Skid Row Offroad. Also they answered all my questions via email quickly.

I'll get a quote as soon as I can. I am not even sure how I would ship it, I would need a huge box...

DM me with how much you're asking for shipped to 90638 or better yet, if you're local, that's preferred.

In terms of skidrow, 400 bucks shipped is tough to swallow when I just want to replace my ugly rusted out skid plates.

You’ll be fine. You’d know if you had a diff drop as you’d have to put it in. It’s a couple spacers to try and correct the cv angle.

I’m in the same boat as you and looking at the budbuilts myself.

Those sound awesome but i’d bet shipping to the east coast kills the deal for us right coasters.
