Charcoal would be caught up in the pump screen or injector screens.

+1 for a quick run with a quart of ATF and frequent filter changes.

Thats from a damaged Charcoal Canister letting debri charcoal run thru fuel to engine intake to engine and some gets by to oil pass rings and pcv.Have the Charcoal canister inspected and tested! Its underneath next to Fuel tank on Drivers side!

Here's what the fuel must pass through to get into the combustion chamber. I think it's safe to say what the OP is seeing in his oil did not come through the fuel injectors. In addition to these, there's an even tighter mesh on the pickup.

I had my mechanic do the oil change, just too cold to work under jack stands in the driveway.
Thanks to craigs1 and all those who made great suggestions, I switched over to the Penzoil HM 5W30 and the larger oil filter. I also had the sump cleaned, new gasket from Toyota.
The pile of carbon & crap that was removed was the size of a pancake and almost a half inch thick at the center. They said it was half as much as what was removed a year ago. So some improvement there. I will do this again at 1000-1500 miles or warmer weather. ;)
No need to buy a new pickup as the screen is in good shape.
They also suggested to run higher grade gas once in a while to help clean things out a little.

Yeah, plain laziness came close to ruining this engine!

Back in the day we would replace a quart or two of oil with ATF for a bit before changing, not sure how effective this would be.

I know ATF will loosen a lot of gunk, but there is so much in my engine that I am afraid I would be half way to work when the screen would get clogged again. I'm content to let the HM oil do the work for now.

Without a disassembly and a ultrasonic bath, or hot tank bath, you'll keep getting that crap out for a loooong time. This is what one of mine looked like before the hot tank.

So an update; ( forgot about this thread  )
Last oil change saw only a teaspoon of debris on the bottom of the pan when my mechanic did the change. Still using the same Highmileage oil. I have had two oil changes since my Oct.2018 post. Getting ready to do the next myself, it will be the first time using the Fumoto valve since installing it over a year ago!o_O

Thanks again for the input here, everyone!
