audio control lc2i - What gauge wires to use?

audio gurus,
I plan to install an audio control lc2i in my 2016 Tacoma sport w/ tech pkg (non-jbl) so i can add an amp/sub and keep the factory radio. This is a link to the lc2i: http://www.audiocontrol.com/car-audio/factory-system-upgrade/lc2i/

I was wondering what gauge wires i should run for the 12v constant and the ground. I have a coil of 12 gauge speaker wire that i bought for an amp install a couple years ago but never used. Would that 12 gauge speaker wire work? or do i need a specific wire type for the power/ground?
Also, I think i should install in 'in line fuse', any recommendations on fuse size?

If you any favorite online audio equipment stores, let me know, as I'll probably just buy whatever i need online once I know what to purchase.

I noticed in the specs it said it came with a 1amp fuse. I would think that 12g would be more than enough for the power and ground wire. I've never used these to add to a stock stereo but the fuse alone means it doesn't need huge wire. I usually buy my stereo equipment through sonicelectronix.com. I've done multiple stereo, amp & sub installs and they will have everything you need at a reasonable price. Hope this helps!

 

Thank you for the reply. I'll check out that website and most likely proceed with 12G wire unless someone else chimes in with different recommendations.

 

Current draw is probably <1A, so 12 ga is gross overkill. 12 ga is overkill even for most subwoofer applications.

No, but you'll have to work to find cable too small. 18 ga is also overkill, but will work just fine.

 

Is a LOC necessary if your amp has speaker level inputs? I am having a amp/sub installed next week (JL XD300/1v2 amp & Stealthbox for my 18 DC) and the installer recommended the LC2i because of the bass roll off. It doesn't add a lot more to the price but any input would be appreciated.
