I've never liked the idea of spending a ton of money on minimal HP gains so I decided to make a intake. I used the factory air box with a K&N filter. Next I bought a intake pipe for a Acura Integra from Amazon. I also ordered another coupler so I would have two. I cut 3" off the intake pipe with a worn out hacksaw and then put it all together. With my rebate I have right around $90 in everything. I have no supporting dyno graphs but the engine certainly seems more responsive. At WOT the engine is quite a bit louder. Not annoying but definitely noticeable. It's a tight fit but just another option for those out there that are interested. I don't take credit for the idea as I saw it on the 3rd gen Facebook page.

You should look into getting a TRD Intake Flow Accelerator PTR03-35160-AE to complete your setup.

Yeah, I may consider that. I'm now looking into getting a Y pipe, just having a hard time biting that $500 bullet lol

cool, i was thinking about doing the same thing. I had the AFE intake but returned it because I didn't like the rattling/drone noise it made.

I've been watching. Unless it is a huge discount, it might have to wait until the beginning of the year.

Yeah. I've been watching there for 6mo or so. Every time I get close to pulling the trigger, so other mod jumps up the list.

So I decided to use your platform as the basis of my Intake too...thanks for the idea I modded the factory box as well to give it a little extra eye appeal. Since I already had the TRD drop in filter. I also found the same intake tube from spectre but in wrinkle black. Here’s how mine turned out

That's awesome, man..actually pretty stoked to see someone else rocking this. I've got the same textured black tube from spectre on the way. Found a 15 degree coupler for that last little angle to the throttle body. Any issues with the black finish when cutting it to size?

FPC, that's pretty creative with the see through window. Nice job!

Righton thanks guys... it turned out pretty cool imo Ya the 15 degree coupler prob help a little but I used the straight ones and it turned out ok. Just warmed them slightly with a heat gun to soften the rubber. I cut mine down with a hacksaw and used a deburring tool to cleanup the edge. The cut at the throttle body I made at an angle to kinda match. It’s aluminum so it works pretty easily

I went off the area without the webbing from the underside of the lid just so I wasn’t making it any less rigid. Would have been cooler with a larger Lexan window but still pretty decent anyway

Man, the window is an awesome touch. Somewhere at Airaid someone is super disappointed you didn't pay $500 for that setup..haha.

I won't have yer sexy lexan peepshow window, but i'll post whenever my pipe and coupler get here
