I have (had) a dilemma...I want to continue to duck hunt for the reminder of the season (it's ends in early Jan). We're required to have a means of retrieving a downed duck, so with the passing of Willy last week, I was without that option (my preferred of course).

I decided to pick up a cheap kayak to drag in and use to "fetch" my ducks. I scoured CL for a while with no luck. Being so close to the LL Bean flagship store, I checked out their offerings, but didn't expect much in terms of in stock items given that it's not the season and they've switched over to ski equipment & fat bikes.

I went up to the store and asked if they had any kayaks "out back" and the guy walked me outside to a snow covered rack with about 8-12 kayaks on it. There was a 10' camo one sitting there...yes!

This was the model that was one of ones they had leftover from the 2018 season.

    https://m.llbean.com/llb/shop/111165?pn=pd&skCatId=111165&bc=29-118-506830-1103&csp=f

Perception make the LL Bean branded kayaks...so it's good quality.

It was normally $549 for the package (kayak, paddle and cockpit cover). He said "how about 30% off since it's off season? "....I said "sure!" As we walked back into the store, he asked why I was buying a kayak now, so I told him. When he rang up the purchase, the total was just over $250 including tax. I said "that's not right" and shrugged. He said "don't worry about it I gave you a 25% off coupon". There was a storewide 25% off coupon that had expired on the same day I had Willy put down and he overrode the system to give me that additional discount. Class act and why I'm a lifelong customer.

    Watch out ducks!

    Morning Mark!

The other builder is causing me delays. He wants the other buildings flagged by a surveyor before I begin. With the holidays this could delay me a month. I have to comply, he has a lot of clout with the architects.
He is still trying to get the coop, I’ll be able to relax once I get the foundation work begun. I’m prepared to have it swept out from under me at any moment, but not without a fight. The other builder is one of the most prestigious custom home builders in Austin.

Greetings from my world. Major controversy here yesterday. A couple members complained about the drunk bartenders we have on staff. Their own best customers.... So...My boss tells their boss to "do something about it". The food and beverage manager then goes out and buys the bartenders all tooth brushes and mouth wash.

Seriously. She did something about it....
