Day 14, I keep suffering on the West Coast of California and in the Death Valley. :annoyed:

Saved some lost tourists inside of the canyon, by giving them a ride back to their "paved" vehicle :militarypress:

Also did tire rotation, for $10! I need new pads after I get back... The fact that Cali and Nevada speeding tickets do not affect Ontario insurance makes me do crazy speeds... :burnrubber:

PS. Currently in Vegas, I am going to either win a new Taco or loose one lol :anonymous:

Awesome scenery! Did you hit the Taco's speed limiter on the dry lake bed?

It's not permitted to drive there to preserve the scenery, but there were some dirt roads that made me smile seeing speedo going to 110 in miles :anonymous:

    The repair/service list grows!

    - new windshield
    - new break pads
    - new passenger tail light (somehow it cracked & I didn't back up into anything) :annoyed:
    - possibly new shocks or recharge current ones.

Q for the electrical experts. If I'm wiring up 4 - 3w led's, do I need a relay or can it be straight wired?

You can go straight, but I think you should
    always run a relay.

Are relays application specific in terms of wattage/amperage?

I'm definitely no expert. I guess you really only need a relay with something with a higher draw. Like a light bar or something.
With something like for 3w leds it's really minor. Are you putting lights in the engine bay or something?

I'm adding some pods around the roof rack. In total, according to my math, they will only draw 1.25 amps. From what I'm reading seems like most good switches can handle that without need for a relay.

using a relay lets full voltage to the lights ,with no load to the switch

It was just sketchy, driver wheel is on the edge of the canyon and the passenger wheel is touching the rocks, plus loose gravel that tend to disappear under the truck wheels making it slide further than you want it - takes the whole experience to the next level. The park map didn't lie, it's a trail for experienced drivers only. I would not go there unless you at least can do Black Loop at Ardbeg with your closed eyes lol. Here few pics of the trail, it looks worse in real person lol.

Yes you do! Take family with you, there are all kind of activities for everyone in the park and Vegas is only 1 hour away :drunk:

I am not electrical expert, but I use relays on everything I wire in my truck. It's a general rule - you do not want to run "hot" wire in the cab.

Just don't take any passengers haha, they will be freaking out. Some sections had to be done in 4LO+ATRAC+1st gear - since it's all downhill you want to go as slow as possible.

Relay it. Most switches aren't designed to handle that much current.

Technically you could run it without a relay. Most don’t so you don’t have direct power going from the battery to your cab and then to the lights. If there is a short a fire could occur if you don’t use it. Also if your using a switch with a light it will always be powered as there is always a hot running to it. Plus you could run it from an in cab fuse however it’s not suggested as you may blow a fuse (even though your drawing so little it’s possible as the tolerances for stock are pretty tight)
