Brakes are fine. I didn't see a problem with them. Push the pedal and the truck stops.

Pot calling the tea kettle black.

This guy is worried about reliability issues. Yet you recommend him a used Truck that is probably out of warranty. Additionally, let’s not go in to the issues that 2nd gen owners have had.

Would take a fairly new platform over an aging platform dating back to 2004 in 2018. Not in just reliability, but safety as well.

My only regret is not getting the long bed. I had no idea how many things I needed to haul that were just barely too long to fit in the 5 foot bed but would have fit in the 6.

I do, but then I have to ratchet strap or tie it down. It would have just been easier to have the 6 foot.

My post actually was very pleasant. I suggested a good option, to help in a positive manner. From what I’ve seen there are many issues with 3rd gens and the OP seems well aware of it. Thank you for your opinion.

Never said you did sweety. Let me help you out:

I can't think of a perfect vehicle but the Toyota FJ was damn near close.

I have owned four (Still have 2) and put gas, water, air, oil and grease into them. No major repairs, great community for DIY.

I got the Taco because I wanted an AT after driving MT for so long. I only hope it holds up as good, but wish the OP good luck in finding a perfect vehicle.

When asked about my truck, I tell them to take an extended test drive:

    • Make sure the fit and seating position is comfortable.
    • Make sure you are ok with shitty Entune.
    • Pay attention to performance of engine.
    Vaya con dios after that!

You’re not very good at this.

    When did I do that?
