Ok so, coldest day of the year so far (news said Maine was the coldest place in the nation today) and I get a flat :censored:. Subzero windchill, drifting snow blasting us in the face, it was a good time.. :bananadead: Just 5-10 miles from warning light to total flat and coincidently the first place I could pull off.

Luckily I had a ton of shit with me like boots, shovels, etc for my planned scouting trip up past the Golden Rd tomorrow, as well as family on the road just behind me. Got the spare on and made it home.

Sidewall is totally fucked. Split right down to the cords. No chance of patching this bad boy

Anyway... heres my question. How much mismatch in tire wear (overall diameter) would you guys run? aka Im not looking to spend a ton of money right now and toss a tire with a bunch of life left in it, but I also wonder if I should buy a matched set for the rear. And Im just looking for quick opinions so I can get this fixed early tomorrow. Im sure there are plenty of discussions back and forth, but thats here nor there now.

Current tires measure 10/32" in the center. A brand new one (my full sized spare) measures 15/32" in the center.

    Thoughts?

Did you run over any thing? That looks like a slice mark. I'd rotate the 2 with the closest to the rears and throw the spare on the front as long as your in 2wd it wont hurt anything. To be honest you could run your spare and the older tire on the rear and you would be fine. Issues arise from 2 different sized tires on the rear or 2 different brand of tires on there rear

Yeah, so that was essentially the point of my super long winded first post haha. What's the max mismatch in diameter you would run on the back? You're saying 5/32 is negligible which is what I'm leaning towards as well.

And it was the rear driver side that I lost.

And no, didn't hit anything that would have done that.. can only figure it might have been damaged by something I might have hit a few weeks ago on the RI trails. And then was pushed over the edge by the cold weather and maybe a nail or something tonight. Honestly have no idea..
