I plasti dipped the chrome bezel and left the main part as is. I think it looks really good. No durability issues yet.

    Good lookin truck!

I think I'm sold on: Plast-Dip chrome and black paint over the metallic gray.
    Grill comes in Nov 26th.
    I'll post pictures.

I tried painting my chrome bezel black. Didn't work out. The bezel is plastic with some chrome coating stuff. In all fairness, the day I painted it was 95 degrees and the humidity was at least that high. After scrapping that, I ordered a new bezel.

I scotch bright my OR grill. Then degreased with tac cloth and degreaser, then used adhesion promoter then self etching primer then gloss black. Rock chips still got through after a few months. They were about the size of a bb from a air rifle. The paint held up well but I think the chrome really wreaks havoc on adhesion. Ended up getting a China grill.

If you have FU money, just buy a color matched surround and dip the grille. Save yourself the heartache of the paint inevitably chipping off the chrome. Then you can sell that grille and recoup some $$.

Sorry didn’t see your post till now.

I did about 4-5 coats but that’s only because I was getting some bubbling from spraying too close the first couple times.
