going next week to look at a couple trucks. Mainly Red or MGM are the only two colors I want. I want the tech package for the color keyed bumper but that is proving to be difficult, so what kind of price would I be looking at to remove the chrome and go with body color or a black bumper

You can sand the chrome off those plastic ends and paint them or I think you can buy black ones off Rockauto.

A few options to look at would be plasti dip, or look on the marketplace on this forum as some members have changed out the rear bumper.
It looks like you can get them for about 90 dollars each from a dealer, but they come unpainted, so you have to pay a painter.

You can do as mentioned above or get Bumpershellz that are black. @eCOOL1 is doing runs of custom colors too since neither of your 2 choices are normally available.

@eCOOL1 offers shells that go over the factory bumper caps. They are priced from $100-$165 a pair.

I found a couple videos of doing this with the 3rd gen. The only thing they didn't walk about is how many coats and how easy it is to remove. but looks like a good cheap option for now

Don't know if you've already taken care of the chrome, OP, but I'll put in a plug for the Bumper Shellz from Ecoological that others have mentioned above. I went with the "Textured Black TPO" option and it matches the rest of the bumper perfectly. Took less than 20min to install and looks fantastic.

Plastidip is definitely cheaper, but I liked the idea of something solid that I could just snap on and forget about.
