Hi... new to the forum, have been reading a few posts and trying to figure out what else should be checked/done during this appt w/ the dealer for my 2018 Tac 4x4 TRD off road. Can anyone enlighten me as to any causes or concerns before I see them in the am? Sorry for the lateness of my post. TIA

If you make multiple short trips with your truck in freezing temperatures, you can have them change the oil, at a cost to you.
Check your rear differential for any seepage.
If you're not happy with the way the truck shifts there's a TSB for it, manual or automatic.

Other than those things, unless you're having issues with your truck just go in for the tire rotation and what-not and enjoy your truck!

On the first 5k service they will open the hood and look at your washer fluid bottle, they might actually pull the oil dipstick, they will look at your air filters (engine and cabin) and try to sell you a new one, do not buy from them, or you can buy it from the parts dept. yourself and change it, do not let them charge you for an air filter install, but most importantly they will check the drivers side floor mat. They should rotate the tires, you may want to double check the lugs before you leave. Thats about all. Hopefully they have a nice lobby with some free stale coffee or some free drinks. My local dealer has an ICEE machine, so I get one and walk around the lot while I wait.

So 5000 mi checkup came and went without any problems. Had the tires rotated, brake pads, disk, drums checked. Washer topped off, all other fluids checked. Tires aired up to 35 psi, and no mention of air/cabin filter changes. No diff seepage seen. Am curious about the Shift problem though, what should I see/hear or feel that would require the update on the TSB?

I would also suggest that you check all of your fluids yourself. They won't actually check the tranny, xfer case, or differentials and many have found them to be low. All of mine were. It's a good time to confirm it now, or if you intend to swap them out at 10k do it then. Either way, you don't want to go thousands of miles with low fluids.

The easiest way that I could tell what stepping on the gas hard from a dead stop. IF you're having the transmission issues, the truck will surge, pause while it hunts for a gear to engage, then take off. It will have a similar affect if you're on the freeway and give it gas when trying to pass a slower vehicle. Both of these are valid safety issues. The harder one to notice, for me at least, is the gear hunting between 40-50 mph that so many folks talk about. The same TSB fixes both issues. My service tech wrote up the issues as a WOT ( Wide Open Throttle ) for TSB 62-18.

Check your new maintenance manual. Just have them do whatever it says, unless you have already done it.

    Simple.
