Had a Grom. Ohio. NOT legal on the highway. This is not fact but I don’t believe speed is the determining factor for legality. DOT doesn’t want you to die so small vehicles may not be legal depending on the states laws. 55 is a speed limit. You can drive down the highway slower if you want. (Although I believe some states have made minimum speeds a law).

Alot of states require a certain size engine. In NJ you need at least a 250cc to drive on the on major highways.

Legal in PA from what I can tell. I take 76 from Pitt to Philly quite often and the speed limit is 70 almost the entire way now.

Here’s what the PA Turnpike says. Looks like as long as you’re in a motorized vehicle and can maintain at least 15MPH BELOW the speed limit, you’re good. I think this is consistent with non-toll interstates in PA as well. There’s always a “motorized vehicles only” sign when you enter.

Regarding engine size in Pennsylvania, there does not seem to be any correlation between engine size and legality of highway use for traditional motorcycles/scooters. PA code states that any motor bike (2-3 wheels, seat, handlebars, brakes, indicators, etc.) over 5hp is considered a motorcycle/autocycle and anything 5hp or less is a motor-driven cycle. However, both are able to be registered as motor vehicles and inspected/licensed as such. So, it looks like as long as your Vespa can make it to at least 15mph under the speed limit, it doesn’t matter what size the motor.

The only thing that expressly does NOT meet the requirements of turnpike driving is a “motorized pedalcycle,” which is defined as a motor-driven cycle operated with pedals, under 50cc, that does not go more than 25mph.

...^^^... That vehicle is about an hour away from me ... it would be fun to look at ... except too much traffic to go see it.

I had a Subaru wagon (about the same year and size) and loved that size AWD to drive in the snows of Canada.

My best friend's parents had a red early 1990s Subaru Loyale AWD stick shift wagon until maybe 1995, and my friend described it as a "snowmobile".

This was my guy. Super friendly with everyone. Knew how to play with kids in the most gentle way. I sadly lost him yesterday. Words can not describe how much I miss him. I don't think I can ever own another pup.

My paternal grandmother has a 2002 Lexus RX300 Coach Edition that she bought brand new. In the more than 16 years she's own it, she's put less than 87,000 miles on it!

Unfortunately, a couple months ago, she was involved in her first at-fault accident in probably four decades. In my opinion, the accident should not have been her fault. The Lexus fared much better than the Mazda3 driven by the other party, only sustaining minor scrapes and scratches.

Grammy went to Florida for two weeks to see her oldest son and comes back next weekend, and since she flew out of Philly she left the Lexus at our house.

Jeff, I feel your pain, the emptiness in your routine and life. Took me five years to get another. From humane society in Boston is where I got my present pup.
I didn’t think I could find a replacement, one with quirks individual to her,but my girl now has her own and thats beautiful .
In a couple of months, if you feel up to it, take a ride to the local Humane Society and who knows maybe.....

I hope you heel well from your loss

Thank you. I know in time I may be ready. I bought a bunch of stuff for him on Black Friday. I was thinking about bringing it over to the Humane Society and leaving a donation under his name. Been stuggling keeping my composure at work all day. Sucks knowing I'll never be able to get to play with him again.

Sorry OP for getting off track. Love these breeds so much

I’m so sorry for your loss, when you feel ready just go in to the shelter and look around. Like the other poster said, you never know!
My fiancé’s dog got hit by a car and killed, a while later she found a dog at the shelter who looked 100% identical. Needless to say it was it was meant to be.
