3rd gen OR w/pro wheels and 265/70/17’s

hi, just to clarify, if I install 17 pro wheels (matte black forerunner pro style) on a 3rd gen off-road with mudflaps ALL STOCK will I have to remove oem mud flaps????

I had the same question as you, from my studies you should be fine. I had my pro wheels and tires installed with a lift. The shop said I would be fine, with the mud guards front and rear. I did the Toyo open country at2 265/70/17 SL and 5100s. Still have the front air deflecto and mud guards.

 

The answer depends on tire size.

Ah, missed that. Just read the first post. What is the offset on the wheels in question? I keep seeing different numbers.

 

These are on Sport wheels, no lift. 265/70/17 they would probably rub when stuffed and full turned.

 

So you have the Ultra Terrains?? Are these standard load??? If so how do you like them??

 

Yes just got them yesterday. So far I like them, not much road noise,yet. Running 35psi, a little shimmy at 70ish mph. They are snowflake rated, which is what I was after, Michigan winters. Kinda a shot in the dark as these have not been out there that long. There are P metric rated, so not to heavy,42lbs. It was these or the Faulken WildPeaks AT3. I hope they work out well,$184.00, -10% Black Friday sale. Only available through Discount Tire.

The TRD pro wheels with stick out about an inch but not past the flares. I don't get any side spray on the truck when it rains lightly. The different offset which is slight, will push out further and helps you with the tire not rubbing. Again you will be more prone to rubbing on the Sport wheels than the pro wheels.

 

I wanted bfgs but didn't want the headaches. The Toyo open country at2 is a tuff tire to beat. Smooth, light and ittle to no increase road noise.

 

I have seen others say that there is, in fact, rubbing with 265/70/r17 against the mud guards.

Assuming that tire size stayed the same, 265/70/r17, without removing the mud guards (or trimming), what (hopefully minimalistic changes) can be done to eliminate the rubbing?

Does anyone know if there is more rubbing with an SR5 compared to the TRD as I believe there are some suspension/height differences?

 

Mine will probably rub if OffRoad at full turn and stuffed, there is no rubbing on mine with normal driving and front Mudflaps on.
