Take a hot shower followed by a cold beer.

I remember my dad taking his 400 series engineering classes (we went to college at the same time) and bitching about how "it might say 'engineering' on the front but goddamn if this isn't a fucking math book! And there isn't anything in here about trains!"

The joke got old after the first year of him telling it.

The point where a problem takes two full pages on my engineer ruled graph paper is to much. I write small and cramped too. Our professor was talking about how we covered the intro to this topic in Diff Eq and idk wtf happened between tech diff Eq and here but holy shit I felt like a deer in headlights for a solid 20min

Code questions can be that way. Sometimes it takes two or even three pages of calc's just to say Yes or No about a certain thing.

    Mornin TTC.

We're having that issue right now with one of the systems that calculates housing pay for GI Bill recipients. The system was designed around a certain amount of processing power, and a law change last year that no one expected made the project have to add 20 more decisions to the system. That in turn upped the processing time needed by an order of magnitude, so what would normally take 30-60 seconds to process now takes over 15 minutes. They are trying to re-engineer the back end, but all the funding went to the records system (that doesn't work).

And God help you if there isn't enough information to make a decision, because the damn thing will just hang and wait to time out. :bananadead:

I hate old mainframe systems ported over to zOS. Better to have just started over from scratch.

Damn that’s nuts. What’s that look like? Handwritten code?

All sorts of codes. Mostly ASME but there are others too. Nobody ever told me you gotta be part Philadelphia Lawyer to do this stuff neither. :annoyed:
