Has anyone else had their frame recalled and been charged $2670 to get the job done and their vehicle back?
I dropped my truck off for a recall.2 weeks later I get a call to say it was ready. I went in and paid a sickening bill then got into my truck and it wouldn't even start I'm pretty sure when I drove it in it was running. But somehow for a frame recall you need a new battery, alternator, fuel pump , front shocks , rear shocks , struts, sway bar, bushings the list goes on and on and on Toyota owners beware!

They can’t charge u a dime unless you ok it first. They will give it back with broken parts if stuff brakes when removing.

I only paid $110CAD on mine, i specifically told them to call me if they believe something needs to be replaced, the $110 was for taking off and storing my canopy for 2 weeks while they worked on it.

When I had mine done in 2008, I had a clear understanding up front that I needed a new muffler and rear bumper. They suggested at the time that the shocks and struts were probably due given the age (2001) of the truck. So, when they started in they called and confirmed that those items should be replaced.
They only charged for parts, not labor (dealer pricing, of course).
Total was around $1300 if I recall.
If you were surprised at the cost when you picked it up then someone dropped the ball on communications.

i just had my recall done summer 2018 and didnt pay a dime. They can not charge u for a repair that they didnt notify you for. My old SWB i sold in spring 2018 went for a recall as well and the new owner paid 100-200 on top. I also suggested (same dealer that mine went thru) a BSP for a inspection/recall around fall of 2018 and he didnt get charged.

I also just had mine done on my 07 and there were no unexpected costs. They called me when they were almost done and suggested replacing my rear shocks since they were leaking.

They assured me no labor costs so I approved the work. They only charged me $60 for each shock plus installed a few new bulbs. Total bill was around $150.

I agree with others, they cannot replace parts or perform additional repairs without your consent. I wouldn't have paid that bill.
