That is the thing. Water coming down into the cowl has to exit somewhere. If the grommet wasn't installed properly, the water could get around the grommet? Otherwise, maybe a hole developed in the layers of the cowl?

I would sincerely ask for a demonstration at the dealer. The damage is already done. A few more drips can't hurt.

As is said about warranty claims, the dealer has to prove the cause. I've never been down that road, but I would be looking to see how they came to that conclusion.

I struggled with that one because it shows two grommets and not enough wires. The grommet in the foreground looks like the one on the right side of my Taco. It has a larger ECU harness coming through. I used one of the 'utters' to route the front camera wiring.

It's a grommet through a single wall of sheet metal. No water through the cowling should be able to contact it anywhere as far as I can tell. Even if it's sandwiched sheet metal there, it would all be in the groove of the grommet.

That's my plan - To have them show me it happening.

Thanks. I'm literally sick over this whole situation. I will never modify a vehicle that is still under warranty again. As soon as they see anything you did, they stop and blame that item.

I would have drained a couple bottles of Tums by now.

But then, I said the same thing. The Taco was perfect rolling off the lot, . The mod bug is irresistible.

Put it this way, how many modded Camrys or Siennas do you see on the dealers' floor versus modded Tacos and Tundras? Hell, my dealer had a blinged out Highlander the last time I was there. It is part of the Taco landscape and easy to do. Beyond that, trucks are a cash cow. A bit of good warranty support feeds the cycle.

Here's a better view of the grommet on the driver's side with the "udder" visible. They probably have more or less wires based on features, like A-trac?

    Yeah. Good pic!

I don't know if I have a udder on my left one? I only remember seeing the thick harness and hood release cable.

My uninformed guess is that the ATRAC and electronic booster comes through the right side?

Goodness. I missed the forest for the trees there and never noticed / realized / fully saw the two harnesses coming through on the right side.

But, I can confirm no udder on my left side.

No warranty coverage. Opened a case with Toyota. Also discussing trading it in.

    Not fun!

How close are you? Some chance of good will? Possibly powertrain related??

The big question. Is life good with that kick panel connection cleaned up? I'm just thinking that for the cost of some padding and fixing the leak, you might be good to go long term?

Well, I'm at 34k miles, so under warranty. They won't go any further than saying it's not covered and to investigate further and would be customer pay. Also, the battery isn't holding a charge now. So there's that.

If I do trade it, I'm pulling off my softopper and weather tech floor mats. They supposedly appraised the truck as if it didn't have an issue. And I can avoid any electrical Gremlins down the road.

I am sorry to hear that. What a bind to be in.

Wow. That is the cherry on top.

    Stupid gremlins!

I might keep the skid... The wife said no more mods if you get the new truck. Then she asked what came in the RCI box today.
    :anonymous:

    It's reversable if needed... Right?

Ouch. That's a no win trip to the doghouse.

All mods are reversible. The problem is effort and skill. Myself, I have about half of one of those.
