I have a 2013 and want to get an auto start for it. Was curious what you guys have/like and if you did it yourself or just had it installed? If you did it yourself, how much of a pain in the ass was it?

I've seen some that look like a nice and easy plug'n'play and I've seen others that need to be spliced, which I want to stay away from.

    Thanks for the help!

Viper, combo remote start & alarm system, so far has worked great. They claim 1 mile distance but I have my doubts.

Would you happen to know which model? I'd prefer a 2-way so I know if the truck actually starts or not. I've seen problems with the 1-way remotes that will only try to start it a few times but you have no way of knowing if it actually started

On my 02 Tacoma Pre Runner DC I use Viper Smart Start with GPS tracking from a smartphone . And I can lock /unlock , Start my truck from anywhere that my phone has Cell signal

I've already have tested its range by unlocking my truck from 2700 miles away while I was in Hawaii . It also has features such as low car battery warning , hot or cold temp warning , and for tracking a car such as your kids it has preset mph and perimeter warnings

I highly recommend this set up !!!!

compustart 2 way with alarm and immobilizer, haven't really tested out the range but If I can start it in a movie theater while my truck is parked on the other end of the mall its good enough for me. paid 400 installed but that's with my discount. I think they are close to 1000 retail installed

A few additions to make me feel cool.
Compustar 2W705R-SH, we have a local shop that does a clean install for $350 including the system. I have been using it for two years and like it a lot.
