My truck is a 1998 Tacoma, has stock speakers in it that are blown out and the bass makes them rattle, which can get pretty annoying. I would like some advice for new speakers in my truck. I would like good high quality speakers, but what I'm most interested in is the bass. I'm in need of advice as to what brand of speakers would best fit my truck (I'm looking for replacement car door speakers). I have browsed Crutchfield for hours but am clueless as to what I should get. Also, if you can, I would appreciate advice for a new radio system with a built in amp, advice on subwoofers, and advice for tweeters for my truck as well.

Ask enough and you’ll get 1000000 opinions. My opinion is $250 is enough for decent speakers but without an amp to push some power the speakers won’t matter. That will cost you a bit more. I like alpine, Morel, JL audio. Kicker is a decent budget brand.

i agree with this and most do. to take it a step further, if you value smooth and/or clear highs, you need tweeters and although they'd help, you don't absolutely need amps for that. but if you value full punchy mids and/or lows, then you won't be happy without an amp first. a great speaker with not enough amp is underpowered and you won't even get to hear what you're wanting from mids and woofers.

On speakers or all that other stuff you mentioned? Hard to tell what you have planned here. How much power will these speakers be fed?

$250 would be my budget for speakers and a new radio. I know nothing about power features in speakers and other things like that.

You'll wanna mostly toss that bass idea out the window with that sort of budget, but not to say you can't improve on the factory stuff. For budget head units, it's hard to beat the Kenwood 503BT. I used a 501 for a while and can't say enough good about it...crazy features for the coin.

IIRC your truck uses 6.5" drivers without cutouts for tweeters. You may be best served with an efficient coax. In that range I'd probably do the Morel Maximo or Focal Integration or maybe JL C1 or JBL 620. Lots of choices. Just remember that efficiency is really important on the low power you'll get from the head unit.

I think I could throw in another $100 if these really work as well as you say they do. I was looking at the Focal Integration ISS 165 since it's half off right now and the Kenwood DPX503BT since it's also currently on sale. But I don't know how long those sales will last. I asked now so I can plan what to get on Christmas. I'm hoping that the sales will be better for Christmas.

You should be able to do that in your budget...about 120 for the HU and the same for the speakers. You're just doing the front, right?...since you said 'door speakers'. You won't need all those adapters listed above - just use the factory wiring for the speakers. You may need door adapters, but maybe not. I don't fool with those cheesy things. I make my own out of cutting boards - WAY stouter. Use the bolts & brackets from your factory HU to match up to the holes on the new HU and secure it to the subframe - hella stout and no additional purchase required.
