    Hi
First time, first taco, 2018 TRD OFF ROAD, premium
Haven't picked it up yet but am curious for advice ---- are there any must-have upgrades priced within reason ie less than $300, that I should do almost immediately?

Like a throttle response gadget or throttle body spacer or something to do with air intake?
    Any suggestions appreciated.

I might also have to spend 7 or 800 bucks on blizzaks if I go to Tahoe.
    Thanks

    Bed mat!

If you'll be doing your own oil changes, the aluminum filter housing is nice.

That's all I can think of for must-haves. If you live in cold climate, maybe swap the battery to an AGM.

@USPfan What's the aluminum filter housing? I'll be doing my own oil changes after the first free one.

@Joephilly You can get the TRD Intake for around that range if you want. I got it. Didn't really feel a change, and I knew that going into it, but couldn't help myself. Also I'd skip the throttle response gadgets and go straight for an ECU tune, but that's more expensive.

The ECT PWR always on thing is also useless if you read about what ECT actually does, and if you've already had toyota adjust the trans tuning.

Why would you drop money on a set of blizzaks for a trip to Tahoe? Wouldn’t a set of chains serve you just as well or better?

    you're probably right.
Well idk if it comes with all terrains and yeah chains would be a lot cheaper.
It's not like I'd be driving in snow that much.
Once a month for 3 months maybe?

Pedal Commander. It completely changed the way my truck responded to throttle input. Better than any ECU TSB released, by far.

    Hey guys
Do the 18s come with this transmission TSB update I've heard about?
Do I need some sort of tuning or anything?

If memory serves, they started including the latest TSB around July build dates. When was yours manufactured?

From factory, the filter is housed in a plastic filter housing that can easily crack. The aluminum housing saves you the headache of babying it.

    Thanks everyone!
I'll look into a few of these.
OVtune is 700 buckaroos and voids wtty but it sounds like a great idea.
New tires KO2 have to wait. 1000 for 4. Ouch.
Thanks for all the great suggestions.
No battery, I drive in moderate weather primarily. Doesn't get freezing unless I leave the valley.

I guess I can put my mt bikes on the hitch carrier but I wonder if I'll need a tonneau cover, and a lock box or a cargo mgmt thing for the bed when transporting groceries and stuff. It's my first truck so I'm a bit ignorant.
My SUV had a trunk and I carry dog stuff and car wash stuff, jumpers and some other crap that I dont want some transient stealing. I need to see what kind of lock boxes I can buy I guess. I might even want a snugtop shell later when I can save 2000 for one. Or for a used one.

OVtune does not void the warranty...they never even know it is there. Matt has stressed this and I did take mine in for an ECU update and they had no idea it was tuned by OVtune. I had a hard time with that much money at first but after running the tune for a little over a year maybe I think it is the best money I spent. He is about to bring out a major update that will make this much better to drive. Just my 2cents
